(S)Happy #Mailday to Me

Awhile back, I decided that I wanted to take a new, more challenging route in my personal collection.  I had already decided to put together the 2013-14 Black Diamond Blackhawks Championship Rings Set.  I then decided to move into the 2013-14 Upper Deck Day with the Cup set.  That one will take longer to piece together, but it will be fun.

When I saw that Scott posted this Patrick Kane cards in “Shappy’s Collectibles,” I went ahead and claimed it.  Anything Blackhawks with the Stanley Cup needs to be a part of my PC.

A week or so later, he posted some John-Michael Liles cards, so I figured I would pick them up and put into one ship.  Liles was raised in Zionsville, Indiana, a town that is about ten minutes south of where I used to live.  He is also a minority owner of the Indiana Ice.  I decided a couple of years ago to make a minor PC of him.  I haven’t updated in awhile, but you can see some of what I have here. I picked up the autographs below off Scott, so I think an update to that bucket is due.

I’m mentioned in some other posts that my lovely girlfriend is a Stars fan.  She’s also turned them into my #2 team (watching at least 50 games this season will do that to you.  I picked this one up for her.

I have a friend that, while a Blackhawks fan, has a Tyler Toffoli PC.  I checked with him and he needed this one (it completes his rainbow), so I picked it up to move along to him.  Tyler will soon make his way to Indiana from Canada, via Texas.  Not the most direct route, but he will be in good company with other Toffoli cards.

The last two I picked up because they are Blackhawks.  The TVR is the first of his that I have.  I don’t collect Blackhawks as a whole, just Shaw and some other random items.  I do like to have something of each player though.  The Drew LeBlanc is the blue pulsar parallel.  If I remember correctly, you could only get these in the retail hang packs.  Mathematics says they are tougher to find than the base cards and likely many of the other parallels as well.  LeBlanc won the 2013 Hobey Baker Award before joining the Blackhawks.   Previous winners of the award include Johnny Gaudreau and Ryan Miller.  The 2015 winner was Jack Eichel, expected to be the second player selected in the 2015 NHL Draft on June 26.
