PACK BREAK: 18 Packs of 2009-10 Collector’s Choice Hockey

One day back in the spring, I stopped into Autograph’s Ink in North Richland Hills (TX).  As a hockey guy, I wasn’t too impressed with what I found.  Being the collector that I am, I didn’t want to leave empty handed, so I picked up these packs.  It’s been awhile, but I know I ended up getting them for less than a dollar a pack.

I bought them blind, having no idea what might be in them.  I also had no idea what rookies were in the set.  I just wanted to grab some cards.  I never looked into it before opening packs a few days ago, so it was all a surprise to me.  Ultimately, it was about what you would expect for a $1 a pack product.

There was one “Choice Reserve” parallel per pack.  I pulled a couple of decent names.  Personally, I was most happy about the Mike Modano.  I will put it with all of the Stars cards I have for my girlfriend.  She’s a big Stars fan.

Rookies weren’t one per pack, but it seems they were about 1:2.  Didn’t pull any overly impressive names (not even sure who the top ones to pull were), but I did get a James van Riemsdyk and newly arrested Ryan O’Reilly.

I was thrilled when I pulled one of the stickers from the first pack.  For me, it was a blast from the past.  It took me back to when I was a teen in the 90s and those were inserted into Collector’s Choice.  Ahhh…the good ol’ days.

There were some other inserts opened, but nothing that I believe is too outstanding.  Looks like some fodder for my quarter boxes.

You don’t open Collector’s Choice expecting to hit a big card.  It’s all for the fun of busting.  For me, it was mission accomplished.
