LCS Pickups from Nick’s Sports Cards (Dallas, TX)

Headed back home from the most recent card show, I decided to go ahead and stop by Nick’s.  I hadn’t picked up much at the show and knew that Nick’s had a lot of All-American cards I need for my set, so I figured I’d give it a whirl.

I picked up four cards for the All-American set.  I bought the Herman Hickman card a few months ago and wrote about it previously.  I saw this one and passed on it the last time I was in the shop.  There were some others I wanted to pick up so I thought I’d chance it and hope it would be there.

This card, I may actually take to get graded on Saturday.  I commented how good it looked to Nick and he agreed.  While off-center, everything else is fantastic.  The corners and edges are great and it has a lot more color than most other cards.  I will do some research to see if the colors on this card are always that bold or if this is just a really fantastic copy of the card.

This is my first card of “Mr. Inside.”  I don’t know what other cards of his are out there, but hopefully I can pick up more in time.

This one is the epitome of a card you pick up only because you need it for a set.  It’s very difficult for me to justify spending my hard-earned money on a card of anybody that played at Pitt.

I have a handful of Sam Huff cards, but I don’t know that I’d ever even seen this one in person before.  There was no way I was passing this up.

I recently picked up a Chuck Bednarik autograph, but didn’t have any vintage cards of him.  The closest shop to my house also has his 1948 Leaf rookie card.  I’m hoping to make it mine someday.

I remember hearing and seeing about Dick “Night Train” Lane when I was watching some old NFL Films shows.  I never had looked for a card of him, but at the same time I don’t recall ever noticing one either.  This one was a no-brainer to pick up.  If you don’t know anything about him, I highly encourage you to do some research.
