Another One Bites the Dust – The Don Hutson Short Print for my All-American Set

Thanks to one of the great guys I know in the hobby, I was able to check this big boy off my list.  This is the second very nice card from the 1955 All-American set that I’ve picked up off Matt.  He is also working on this set and he gave me another great deal on a card once he upgraded his.  Last month, I picked up the Nile Kinnick card off him.

This month, I set up at the show with a table full of nothing but dollar cards.  Before the show even started, one of the regular sellers stopped by and as we were chatting, I mentioned that I was looking to get out of most of my modern product.  He asked me to think about what I wanted for the whole table.  Later, Matt let me know he had the card and set it aside.  I told him that if I sold out, I would pick it up.  I was able to sell of six boxes (all three and four rows) and was able to pick up this beauty for my set.

I’ve contemplated submitting some of my vintage cards to SGC for slabbing.  Beckett had been setting up at the monthly show accepting submissions and bringing them back to the next show.  I submitted six cards that was and was very pleased with the results.  However, they aren’t setting up anymore, so I think it’s time to submit to SGC.  I believe that this will be one of my submissions.  I don’t think it’s coming back a 94, but it’s in fantastic shape for a 60-year old card.  Also, I’m considering an SGC registry for my set.  It’s just another way to “add” to my set and make it more fun.

That’s where I’m at, wanting to be in the hobby for fun and not worried about hits, money or any of that nonsense.
