The Latest, and Perhaps Last, Addition to The Andrew Shaw Project

I’ve been thinking a lot recently and may end up breaking apart the best Andrew Shaw collection in existence.  It has nothing to do with him or the Blackhawks.  I’m still a huge fan.  It all has to do with the state of current, modern trading cards.  I’ve become disenchanted.

This card is the perfect example of a reason why.  I bought it off eBay, yet it was coming from COMC.  Why?  It was an ePack hit.  What??  So, people have been buying actual boxes of cards for months now and this wasn’t even in the packs?  Sorry, that’s not cool by me.

I fully acknowledge that I’m getting older.  I’m turning into the old man that screams “hey you kids, get off my lawn!”  I’ve found myself wishing college football and racing were more like they were 25 or more years ago.

In the hobby, I’ve already washed my hands clean of the bulk of my modern product unless it is something I plan to keep forever.  However, I’ve decided that some things I thought I’d keep forever, I’m not.  I’m working on a submission of a few hundred cards to COMC.

I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to blow up the Shaw PC in it’s entirety or not.  I do plan to sell off most of the multiples that I have.  There’s no need to have five, ten or 15 of the same card.  It’s no longer appealing.  I would rather put that money into other projects that I’ve begun.

In the meantime, this is the latest addition to the collection.  It might be the last one before I start moving pieces.  Only time will tell.
