COMC Pickups for the Indianapolis 500

Since I’m heading to Indiana for the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500, I’ve been picking up some cards.  My hope is to get them signed.  Saturday is “Legends Day” at the track and the track has a lot of the former drivers come back to sign autographs.  Any that I can’t get signed, I will look to find addresses for and send to get signatures.

The one that I’m most excited to get a signature from is Paul Goldsmith.  He is one of only two drivers that I know of (Duke Dinsmore is the other) born in the state of West Virginia that have run in the 500.  I do know that he signs through mail so if I can’t get get them signed in person, I will mail them.

IndyCar doesn’t seem to care that there aren’t trading cards for their sport.  This means that even a modern Indianapolis 500 winner like Sam Hornish doesn’t have an IndyCar trading card.  I was able to find the two above that are as close and I’m going to get.  He does sign via mail, so if I can’t get him, I will send them out sometime in the next few weeks.

Finally, I picked up the Bryan Clauson /100 for a buck.  Hopefully I get him to sign for me again.  He signed a couple of sheet metal cards for me a few years back.  I will be wearing a Clauson shirt to the race.  I’d love to see the young man trying to race 200 races in 2016 get a solid finish.

  1. I have a Hornish IRL card from his time at Panther racing and I’d be more than happy to send it your way. If you’re interested, you can reach me Tonyburbs at gmail.com
