BOX BREAK: 2016-17 Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey

It’s probably because so many collectors that I follow on Twitter are hockey collectors, but I’ve seen so much Upper Deck Series 1 Hockey being busted over the last few days.  That, combined with me being on a relatively hot spell, made me decide to pick up a box at my local card shop, Duane’s Sports Cards.

I’ve started working to collate the first two baseball sets (1986 and 1987 Topps) that I ever completed since I no longer have the sets.  While time consuming, it’s also enjoyable.  I figure that I will go ahead and work on completing the Upper Deck Hockey flagship set each year going forward.  It will still take patience, because of some of the higher priced Young Guns.  It gives me some more projects to work on, not that I need them.

I certainly beat the odds on the box, but there were no big names among the few cards I can move. Since I’m working on the set it’s not the end of the world, but it’d be nice to have gotten something where I can put the money “made” back into another box. That’s why I buy a lot less modern in this feast-or-famine time we live in. Everyone collects differently though, and that’s a good thing.

Happy collecting!
