A Random Act of Kindness for my 1955 Topps All-American Set

A few weeks ago, I posted a thread on the net54baseball.com football forum about my 1955 Topps All American set.  A day or two later, I received a message from one of the members on the board, Chuck.

Chuck was kind enough to offer me the card below if I sent him enough to cover the shipping.  I was so happy and jumped at the chance.  He has completed the set and this was a spare that he had.

I’ve grown a bit jaded with the hobby.  Most “collectors” seem to only be interested in the high dollar, latest and greatest stuff.  The amount of Connor McJesus and Kris Bryant posts on social media and selling sites is rather annoying.  There aren’t too many player or team collectors that are interested in acquiring all different types of things.

In the short amount of time I’ve been focusing my time back into vintage, it’s been much more enjoyable.  While there IS a lot of money in it and many items I want are expensive, there seems to be more of a “community” feel among collectors.  Many WANT to help others find those cards to complete sets.  Many have a true appreciation for others’ collections beyond what it’s worth.  It’s truly been enjoyable.

Thank you, Chuck, for helping me with my set.  I am one card closer to completing it!
