Biggest #Mailday yet for #TheAndrewShawProject

If you follow the blog or know me from places like Facebook, Twitter, Sports Card Forum or CloutsnChara, you know there aren’t many Andrew Shaw cards left that I need.  Most of the ones I don’t have are numbered to 25 or less.  As of last night there were only 37 cards I needed, including 1/1s.  Needing so few is what makes this the biggest mailday ever.

There’s only one other Shaw collector that I’ve connected with.  I first “met” him on SCF and then later on, we “ran into” each other on a Facebook Hockey Cards group.  A few weeks ago, he sent me a message saying that he had something for me.  Since we’ve talked a lot and he knows how extensive my PC is, I was really intrigued to see what he’d found. It turned out, he decided to go in a different direction and was moving most of his Shaws.

He was awesome enough to hold onto them for me, until I could come up with what I needed to snag them off of him.  Today, I received the two cards, 5% of what I needed to have every Shaw piece.

Neither of these are numbered.  I’m not sure how many of the SOTT cards there are, but I think I’ve only seen a handful of them myself.  There’s one that’s been on eBay for a couple of months, but the seller wants $200 for it.  Thanks, but no thanks.  The Rinkside Signings is the most recently released Shaw card.  I hadn’t picked one up yet, as I was waiting for the prices to drop.  They never really did, but then they started drying up.  I wasn’t panicking or anything, but I was looking places other than eBay to try and acquire mine.

I was patient on both of these cards, and that patience paid off.  Jim was willing to both come to me first and to hold on to them, because he knew that they would have a great home with me.  I can’t thank him enough.  I often get discouraged with the hobby, but it’s collectors like him that are truly what a collecting community is about.  Thanks, Jim!  I know you’ll end up reading this!

Now, this is what the remaining checklist looks like:

Thanks for taking a look!  I do know there are many readers that keep up with the progress I’m making on the PC.  I appreciate it, and also the kind words!
