I’ve mentioned repeatedly about picking up cards places other than eBay. This was only my second pickup off net54baseball.com.
Doak Walker won the Heisman Trophy in 1948, while playing at Southern Methodist. We would later be named to both the College and Pro Football Halls of Fame. The Doak Walker Award is awarded to the best college football running back each season.
It is the first Walker card I’ve owned that is from his playing days. I was thrilled to pick it up for the price that I did. “Book” is $200 on it and have completed on eBay anywhere from $30 to $100.
It’s far from an immaculate copy, but it’s mine and I’m thrilled to have it in my collection.
