After all these years, the Easter Bunny found me. The lady and I went back to West Virginia that weekend and he left us a basket! I guess he lost my forwarding addresses. I don’t believe he ever visited me when I lived in Pennsylvania or Indiana.
He left me a rack pack and I was excited to have a pack to open. He didn’t let me down, but Topps sure did. In my opinion, there is a lot not to like about this product.
On the bright side, I did get the three promised rookies in the pack. I ended up with Jameis Winston (#1), Sean Mannion (39) and Tevin Coleman (#48).
The card design is terrible, in my opinion. Then, to top it off, they are colored borders and there was a lot of chipping and bent corners on my cards. The Winston, the best card in the pack, has a bent corner. Awesome.
I think that I got three of the “silver” parallels, but I am not 100% sure. They are shiny, but that’s about all I can tell. Maybe they are something else. No matter what they are, it was quite underwhelming. The positive, I got one of this guy…
Or not. It seems that card #18 is a different Jesse James. The other two maybe-silver parallels were Phillip Rivers (#19) and Frank Gore (#91). All three cards have corner and/or edge damage. Double awesome!
If there is a bright side, the two insert cards in the pack somehow managed to be in decent shape.
The two cards were a Jordy Nelson Transcendent Touchdowns (#TT-JN) and John Elway Into the Wild (#ITW-JE). I think they are good looking cards. However, they look a lot like the base cards.
YAY! The non-rookie base cards are kinda in good shape. That’s what I’m talking about! The cards I got were Matt Ryan (#7), Terrell Suggs (#10), Le’Veon Bell (#13), Sam Bradford (#15), Kurt Warner (#42), Russell Wilson (#51), Matt Forte (#59), Travis Kelce (#74), Teddy Bridgewater (#90) and Terrell Davis (#94).
Maybe I’m overly critical, but this stuff is garbage. I love the Easter Bunny for bringing it to me, but Topps crapped the bed. It’s just another example of why I am sticking to vintage for the most part. I think I will give them to the nephew, he will definitely appreciate them.
