Well, three packs in and I still have yet to ‘Score‘ a hit, but all puns aside, there is a silver… and black lining; this is the second pack in a row that I have managed to pull an Oakland Raider — albeit just in base form but a Raider nonetheless.
So let’s get to it. The five base commons I received were nothing too exciting; a good mix of teams but very focused on pass catchers and halfbacks. In my opinion, the only standouts in this bunch are Cleveland wideout Brian Hartline and Oakland’s running back Latavius Murray. Hartline isn’t putting up video game-like stats but the numbers he has put up over the last seven years have been quite consistent — not to mention a couple of 1,000+ yard seasons with Miami back in ’12 and ’13. Murray on the other hand is going into his fourth season but only has two years of work under his belt, and while there was nothing flashy about his ’14 season he did manage to break the 1,000 yard mark last season as the Raiders’ featured back — combine that with Oakland’s top tier offensive line and an impressive wide receiver in Amari Cooper that can spread the defense and you have what looks to be the necessary building blocks for a superb follow-up for Murray in 2016.
As for the inserts, not too shabby. I received a couple of the leagues best quarterbacks with a Franchise Arron Rodgers and a Signal Callers Drew Brees. I also came away with an All-American Melvin Gordon, who had an all-star outing at Wisconsin in 2014 coming away with 2,587 yards which was good enough for second-best in FBS history, and a pretty strapping black parallel of a Stoppers Kam Chancellor, one of the hardest hitting safeties to play the game. Unfortunately, the Chancellor card came stock with a mild ding in the top right corner — or top left if viewing from the back. I suppose that’s just how it goes sometimes.
