Sometimes I should make sure I’m adding two plus two. #Mailday

I feel that I am very good about paying attention to details and what is going on around me.  I’ve had a recent incident that has proven otherwise, though I’m not complaining too much.

A few days after the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup, I noticed a thread on Sports Card Forum.  One of the collectors had made his own “Stanley Cup Champions” cards and I was in love.  I posted on the thread asking if it would be possible to get an Andrew Shaw for my PC, but never received an answer.

I’d kept checking back to see if he’d replied to the thread and he hadn’t.  The last post (from the prior day) stated that the poster had picked one up off eBay.  So, I clicked to his page and ordered my Shaw.  It was no big deal, as I really wanted to add to The Andrew Shaw Project.  You can check out his eBay store here.

That afternoon when I got home from work, it was already in my mailbox.

I didn’t know where the seller lived.  He couldn’t have been local and dropped it in my mailbox, because we have locked mailboxes.

Rewind time a week.  I had received a massage on SCF that someone had a Shaw that they were going to send me as a pay it forward, only asking that I do the same and send something to someone else.  I had failed to connect that the user that sent me that message was also the one that made the cards in that thread.  I had no idea what I was getting and it turned out to be THAT card!

Perhaps I could have waited a day and not bought the one that I did.  However, I don’t regret it at all.  He was going out of his way to be nice.  He put time and effort into what he did.  They are beautiful cards.  The stock is just like that of a card that you’d receive from Upper Deck.  I think that what I’m going to do is send one of them to Andrew Shaw and see if I can get a TTM autograph.  As I talked about in the link below, I’m looking for ways to do different things with my Shaw PC and this would be another way to make a fun addition.  After all, the hobby is about fun!
