My Dream New York Mets Collectible

The 2015 Major League Baseball season has come and gone and I’m still in a little bit of shock.  You see, I’ve been a Mets fan since somewhere around 1987 or 1988 and the fact that they were in the playoffs, let alone the World Series this year still seems like a dream.  At the beginning of the season they weren’t on anyone’s radar as a contender.  Nonetheless, I enjoyed every minute of it and hopefully winning the World Series isn’t too far away!

As I said earlier, I’ve been a Mets fan since around 1987 or 1988.   I can’t remember exactly when my fandom started but I can remember how.  A childhood friend of mine that was a few years older than me was also a fellow sports fan and card collector.  One day, he introduced me to the New York Mets, more specifically, two of their superstars named Darryl Strawberry and Dwight “Doc” Gooden.  Once I saw what they could do on the field I was instantly hooked.  I not only became a fan of Strawberry and Gooden, but I also loved players such as Tim Teufel, Mackey Sasser, Sid Fernandez, and Ron Darling.  Oh, and Howard Johnson! Who could forget HoJo?  To me, these guys represent the glory days for the Mets.

With the Mets in the World Series this season I started thinking that it’s time for me to add another piece of Mets memorabilia to my collection.  It’s been a couple years since I purchased a memorabilia item.  The last item I purchased was a game-used batting glove worn and signed by Gary Sheffield.  But, maybe it’s time for me to purchase a big ticket item.  What does every Mets fan need in their collection?  I’ve got it! A baseball signed by the entire 1986 World Series champion New York Mets!

If you’re a Mets fan like myself, this is a must have for your collection and it’s currently up for auction at Invaluable.com where they have plenty of sports memorabilia items for auction! It’s a little out of my price range at the moment but it’s definitely on my wishlist.
