Well, I was accurate in my initial assessment of this fourth pack seeming slightly heavier as I did receive a false hit. I suppose I am getting ‘warmer’ as it were towards pulling an actual hit from this small bunch of five retail packs. With one pack left, that again seems to be heavier and larger than the rest, my anticipation and hope grows as the odds of pulling a hit would appear to be in my favor. But for now, let’s focus on what was a mediocre fourth pack.
For the commons I received my first duplicates in the form of two RBs, David Johnson and DeAngelo Williams, both of which I pulled in my first pack opening — apparently they are pack besties. I also pulled one of my favorite halfbacks to watch, Devonta Freeman, a dual-threat back with burst and excellent between-tackle vision who ranked 5th in the league in total yards from scrimmage (1634) and tied for 1st in combined rushing/receiving TDs (14). I also picked up a decent inside linebacker and tight end with Lawrence Timmons and Travis Kelce, respectively.
For inserts, I came away with two pairs; a couple QBs with a Franchise Blake Bortles and a Sidelines Jameis Winston and two now teammates with a red-foil parallel Chain Reaction of Chargers’ running back Danny Woodhead and a Toe the Line of San Diego’s newly acquired pass catcher, Travis Benjamin. Apparently, Benjamin “wanted to play with a better quarterback.” — and he’s definitely got one in Philip Rivers.
On the rookie front, nothing special here; a wideout with unsure hands with the Lions’ Jay Lee, a receiver who struggles breaking through first contact in Cincinnati’s 2nd round pick-up Tyler Boyd, and a Dolphins 3rd round pick, running back Kenyan Drake — who I assume will play somewhat of a rotational role splitting time in the backfield with Miami’s current back, Jay Ajayi.
This set having such a large base of 440 common cards, I was slightly disappointed to already pull two duplicates only four packs in — not to mention the bummer of getting a false hit too. And while I enjoyed pulling Devonta Freeman and expanding on a couple inserts as well as gaining my first Chain Reaction and Toe the Line, this pack did leave a lot to be desired. (Rating: 4.5/10)

I’ve opened numerous retail packs of 2016 Score (blasters, jumbos, blaster boxes) and never once did pull a hit. Not even a high SN’d card! I did pull a couple helmet patch cards but those were included in the blasters.. I should have just bought a hobby box, although they were pretty pricey this year.
